Read MorePavement riding is not allowed in the UK e-scooter trials, and Superpedestrian and Nottingham City Council have been working together to curb the behavior. However, until now, neither party really knew how pervasive the problem was, or whether educational efforts could help curb the issue. We recently presented a report to the Council on what we’ve learned so far about pavement riding, which also included the results of a survey we conducted of riders who had ridden on the pavement during the study period.

Read MoreWe built our Superpedestrian e-scooters from the ground up, and in a time when shared scooters lasted barely a month, we were engineering ours to last six years. Still, we’ve been thinking about our scooters that will be coming up on their sixth birthdays soon. To be honest, we’re sad to think of our old friends getting recycled, and our EMEA team wondered if there could be a fun way to upcycle them instead.

In her informative interview, Jean explained why eyes should be on Nottingham as the national government gears up to set e-scooter policy.

Read MoreLondon, San Francisco, New York City, Bremen and Auckland have all had highly publicized brushes with e-bike and/or e-scooter battery fires of late. While there is no evidence that battery fires occur any more frequently than old-fashioned internal combustion engine fires, all it takes is one bad incident to shake a city’s faith in micromobility. E-scooters are now banned from all public transport in London over recent e-scooter battery fires, and Scotland is considering a similar move. If battery fires continue, further restrictions are likely.
