Superpedestrian and Surf Beyond Team Up for an Unforgettable Offsite in Nuremberg and Erlangen

Nuremberg, Germany

Last week, the Superpedestrian and Surf Beyond teams came together for an unforgettable offsite event in the beautiful cities of Nuremberg and Erlangen. From May 22nd to 24th, we had the chance to bond, strategize, and celebrate our shared mission of transforming mobility in cities across Europe. It was the first time many of our team members met in real life since the Surf Beyond acquisition earlier this year, making this gathering even more special. Here’s a recap of our exciting itinerary and the highlights of this amazing event.

Day 1: Arrival and Team BBQ

Arrival IN NUREMBERG

The event kicked off on Wednesday, May 22nd, with team members arriving from all over Europe to Nuremberg, Germany. We started with a BBQ, enjoying delicious food and engaging in great conversations in a relaxed setting.

Team ICE BREAKERS

Following the BBQ, we played ice breaker games. For many team members meeting in person for the first time, it was a wonderful opportunity to get to know each other beyond their roles in the company. The highlight was the lightning-fast “Bull Pitch Game,” which everyone loved.

Day 2: Nuremberg Market and Lots of Fun

On Thursday morning, after enjoying some great local specialty coffees, the team split into two groups for different activities on what turned out to be a beautiful day in the city.

Group 1: Nuremberg market visit

One half of the team visited the vibrant Nuremberg Market. They rented Superpedestrian e-scooters to observe the market first-hand and strategise deployment improvements to better serve our riders in Nuremberg. Along the way, they took some time for sightseeing, appreciating the historic beauty of the city.

Group 2: Operation Centre Visit

The other half of the team visited our Nuremberg' operations centre and met with our market partners in charge of local operations. The tech team also worked with local repair associates on more complex scooter repairs. Our co-founder and co-CEO, Mats Breesth, got his hands dirty, learning firsthand how to replace our scooter’s upper handlebar casing.

These activities filled the morning with productivity and learning.

Lunch: Nuremberg Sausages + Founders Talk and Q&A

No visit to Nuremberg would be complete without trying their famous sausages. We enjoyed a hearty lunch, indulging in this local delicacy. During lunch, we had a special session with our co-founders, where they shared their vision for the company, financial plans for this year and answered questions from the team. This session provided valuable insights for the team and fostered a deeper connection with our mission and our path forward.

Go-Kart Race: SP/SURF Championship on the line

The highlight of the afternoon was the Go-Kart race, where team members competed for the coveted Superpedestrian/Surf Beyond Championship title. It was a thrilling experience, filled with some real competition and high-speed fun.

Evening at Bergkirchweih Entlas Bier Keller

In the evening, we headed to the Bergkirchweih Entlas Bier Keller, one of Germany’s best beer festivals. Held in Erlangen, a city very close to Nuremberg, where we operate as well, we soaked in the festive atmosphere, enjoyed traditional German beer, food and celebrated our shared achievements. After dinner, the team enjoyed live music on the festival grounds followed by more fun in the city.

Day 3: Farewell and Reflection

Team Breakfast and farewell

On the final day, we gathered for a team breakfast, reflecting on the past two days, sharing stories and lots of laughs. Despite the late-night festivities, everyone showed up, demonstrating our strong team spirit and camaraderie. While it was time to say goodbye, we left with a renewed sense of purpose and excitement for the future.

Reflecting on Our Journey

Our offsite event was more than just a gathering; it was a celebration of our collective efforts and a testament to our commitment to revolutionising urban mobility. We’re grateful to the city of Nuremberg for hosting us and to all team members who made this event a success.

For a remote-first organisation like ours, events like these are vital for building connections and fostering a strong team spirit. They help bridge the distance, allowing us to collaborate more effectively and passionately. We plan to have more such gatherings soon, ensuring that we continue to grow together and make a positive impact on the communities we serve.

Stay tuned for more updates from Superpedestrian and Surf Beyond. Together, we’re shaping the future of urban mobility, one ride at a time.
