More rides for the East Bay as Berkeley joins Oakland and Emeryville as a Superpedestrian city
Superpedestrian scooters are now rolling in Berkeley, joining our adjacent riding zones in Oakland and Emeryville to give access to even more riders in the East Bay. Riding from the Oakland Zoo to the Berkeley Rose Garden? We’ve got you!
Berkeley City Councilmember Terry Taplin said, “Micro-mobility is a critical component of our city’s climate action goals. I am very excited to see more options coming online for Berkeley’s residents and visitors.”
We rolled out our stand-up and seated scooters in Berkeley with an event attended by Councilmembers Rigel Robinson and Terry Taplin, and the Downtown Berkeley Association. We also offered free test rides to the Berkeley community on Bike to Wherever Day on May 20th, in partnership with The Downtown Berkeley Association and Bike East Bay.

“We are thrilled to offer our Superpedestrian scooters to Berkeley residents, expanding our service that riders already love in Oakland and Emeryville,” said Walter Rosenkranz, Policy Manager at Superpedestrian. “We’re excited to serve more people in this community, by bringing our seated scooter that can allow more riders to use on-demand shared mobility.”
Our service, as ever, prioritizes accessibility and integration with public transit. The East Bay fleet includes seated e-scooters that are more accessible to older riders and people with disabilities.

Ever since launching in nearby Oakland and Emeryville, Superpedestrian has strived to make our service as transit friendly as possible. We emphasize e-scooter parking at BART stops, and seamless integration with the BART app and other transit apps that make mulit-modal trip planning easy. Now, with our expansion into Berkeley, we are poised to become the Bay Area's preferred first- and last-mile solution.
