Students

Since the Government backed E-scooter trial came to Nottingham, E-scooters have been hugely popular with students. Travelling to a lecture or meeting friends, our fleet is here to help you navigate your Nottingham experience all year round. So, whether you’re new to the city or want a refresher on how to make the most of your rides, this guide has all the tips, advice and rules you need to know to get around your campus and the city safely!

Getting started:

  • Riders must be at least 18 years old and have a valid full or provisional driving licence with category Q entitlement.

  • Be comfortable when riding, make sure you are ready to ride to your destination. We offer 1:1 training through our events in the city.

  • Plan your route ahead of time. This will help you know where to park and avoid riding in areas where scooters are not allowed.

  • Be prepared for all types of weather. E-scooters can be ridden in most weather conditions, but it's important to be prepared for rain and cold temperatures

Riding:

  • Ride on the road (except motorways) and in cycle lanes.

  • Don’t ride on pavements unless they are a designated shared space for cycling and walking, take extra care in these areas.

  • Wear a helmet and be visible. Wear bright clothing and reflective gear, especially at night.

  • Only one person can ride an e-scooter at a time.

  • Don't use your phone while riding an e-scooter.

  • Don't ride an e-scooter if you are drunk or intoxicated. You could be prosecuted under drink or drug driving laws.

Parking:

  • Park in designated areas. There are designated e-scooter parking areas throughout Nottingham. These areas are marked within the app and on the ground.

  • Use the kickstand, keep the scooter upright and align with other scooters.

  • Don’t block the pavement. Make sure the space is accessible for all other pavement users.

  • Be respectful of other property. Don't park your scooter in places where it may be a nuisance.

If you are looking for information on how to get started with the Superpedestrian app and riding the scooter itself, head to the ‘Ride’ section at the top of the page.
